Akhilesh Yadav holding Yogi Adityanath poster is digitally altered

Written by Md Mahfooz Alam

A photograph of Akhilesh Yadav holding a poster of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath is in wide circulation on social media. Along with the photo of CM, the text on the poster reads: “जो राम को लाए हैं, हम उनको लाएंगे! यूपी फिर मांगे भाजपा सरकार” (Translation: We will bring those who have brought Ram! UP again demands BJP government.)

Facto News investigated the viral photograph and found it digitally altered.

Shweta Bhattacharya, a journalist with Times Now Navbharat posted the photograph with the caption that reads: इस तस्वीर को देखकर आप क्या कहेंगे?

(Translation: What would you say when you see this picture?)

Several other users are sharing the photograph on Twitter. The posts can be accessed here.

Facto Check:

We scrolled through the comment box of the Shweta Bhattacharya post and came across several users posting the original photograph.

Taking a cue from this, we conducted the reverse google search of the viral photograph and came across posts by the verified Facebook page and Twitter handle of the Samajwadi Party. The posts have the original photo attached to them and it also announces creating 22 lakh jobs for youths in the IT sector; if the Samajwadi Party forms the government after the 2022 assembly election.

A comparison of the original photo and the edited photo.

Conclusion:

Therefore, it is evident that the viral photograph of Akhilesh Yadav is digitally altered.
