Congress manifesto with Yogi Adityanath photo is morphed

Written by Md Mahfooz Alam

A photograph of former Congress president, Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi holding a Congress manifesto of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly election is in circulation on social media. The manifesto’s cover page has the image of Yogi Adityanath and the Hindi text on it reads: “आएंगे तो योगी ही”. (Translation: Yogi will only come)

On Friday, 21 January, the Gandhi sibling released a manifesto for the youth of Uttar Pradesh ahead of the assembly elections.

Facto News found that the cover page of the manifesto has been digitally altered to mislead the public.

Prakash Prajapati, a Facebook user shared the morphed photo of Congress manifesto with a caption that reads: “आज उत्तर प्रदेश में काग्रेस ने अपना घोसन पत्र जारी किया आएंगे तो महराज जी”

(Translation: Congress released its manifesto that the Yogi government will only come. )

FactO Check:

We checked the verified Congress YouTube channel and found the release of Congress UP’s Youth Manifesto was live-streamed on Friday, 21 January. At 4:33 minutes, we found the Gandhi sibling is holding a manifesto which is titled: भर्ती विधान (recruitment manifesto) and युवा घोसन पत्र  (youth announcement letter).

Throughout the video, we didn’t find any picture of the manifesto which has the image of Yogi Aditynath and the text which says Yogi is coming again.

We also scrolled through the Twitter timeline of Priyanka Gandi and found three photos posted on 21 January in a single tweet. One of the photos is the same as the viral photo, however, it again has no Yogi Adityanath image and the Hindi text as in the viral photo.

Along with photos, the tweet announces that the Congress government will provide 20 lakh jobs to youth and the recruitment examination form will be free of cost.

A comparison of the real photo and the morphed photo.

Conclusion:

Therefore, it is evident from the above findings that the viral photo is morphed.
