A video is being shared with the claim that the people living in Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh are not scared of the goons but the police. In the viral video, two policemen can be seen sitting on the bonnet of the vehicle and consuming alcohol.
A Twitter user Satyam Yadav posted the video on Wednesday, 7 July along with the caption that reads: “योगी सरकार मैं यूपी की जनता गुंडों से नहीं खाकी वर्दी वालों से ज्यादा डर रही है 100 नंबर पुलिस को देखो शराब दिनदहाड़े खुलेआम पी रहे हैं ये है इन पुलिस वालों की ड्यूटी उत्तर प्रदेश जंगलराज जय हिंद भारत माता की जय…..”
(Translation: In Yogi’s government, the people of UP are more afraid of khaki uniforms than the goons, look at the 100 number police, they are drinking alcohol openly in broad daylight, this is the duty of these policemen, Uttar Pradesh Jungle Raj, Jai Hind, Bharat Mata Ki Jai)
A Facebook user Chacha Baklol also posted the video on Wednesday, 7 July with the same claim. At the time of writing the story, the video was viewed over 43 thousand times and shared over 800 times.
The video is viral on Facebook.
We fragmented the video into keyframes using the InVid chrome extension and conducted a reverse image search of the keyframes. We found that the video is true, however, it is an old video from the year 2017.
With the relevant keyword search, we found a report published on the website OneIndia Hindi on 16 March 2017. The report carries one of the keyframe images of the viral video. According to the report, the video is from the Shamli District of Uttar Pradesh. The police posted to attain the emergency call on the helpline number 100 were celebrating Holi in the middle of the road and were causing the ruckus.
Akhilesh Yadav was Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 15 March 2012 to 19 March 2017. We found the video posted by the Twitter handle Bahujan4India on 14 March 2017. Therefore, the claim that the video is recent is fake, and also blaming Yogi Aditynath’s government is wrong.

Another news website the News Track also reported the same on 16 March 2017. According to this report, drunk policemen can be heard saying in the video, “this is the festival of police, we will do the duty and celebrate the festival also.” The report further adds after the video went viral, common people questioned the functioning of the police assigned on the emergency helpline.
The video is from 2017 when Akhilesh Yadav was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Therefore blaming Yogi Aditynath’s governance is wrong.
The Yogi Aditynath government in 2019 has replaced the helpline emergency number from 100 to 112. The 112 is an integrated helpline number that includes access to police, ambulance, fire brigade, and other emergency services.
