Social media users are sharing a screenshot of a tweet, purportedly made by President-elect Droupadi Murmu, which states after becoming president of India, making India ‘Hindu Rashtra’ will be Murmu’s priority.
Facto News has confirmed that the president-elect doesn’t have a Twitter account and the viral tweet on her name is fake.
This claim comes after the NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu won the presidential elections defeating opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha. Murmu created history by becoming the first person from a Tribal community and the second woman to be elected for the coveted post.
The tweet in Hindi reads: “राष्ट्रपति बने के बाद मेरा प्रथम कर्तव्य इस राष्ट्र को हिंदू राष्ट्र बनाने का होगा। जय श्री राम”
(Translation: After becoming President, my first duty will be to make this nation a Hindu nation. Jai Shri Ram)

FactO Check:
The viral tweet was made by the handle “@draupadi_m_.” We searched for the handle on Twitter and found that the account doesn’t exist anymore on Twitter.

We then searched for the news reports and found no mainstream media has reported any such statements or tweets made by the Murmu. However, Aaj Tak has debunked this fake news. Suraj Kumar Mahto, the personal secretary of Murmu, has told Aaj Tak that Murmu is still not on Twitter and the tweet viral on her name is fake.
Conclusion:
With the above findings, it is evident that President-elect Droupadi Murmu never issued any statement about making India a “Hindu Rashtra.”
