A photo of former prime minister Indira Gandhi relishing a delicacy is viral on social media. Taking potshot of her family caste identity, some of the users have claimed that the Indira Gandhi, a “Dattatreya Brahmin” is digging into seafood.
Seafood is no-vegetarian food and it is commonly believed that the Brahmins don’t eat non-veg foods.
The reference to caste identity comes from the backdrop of her grandson, Rahul Gandhi, revelling his “gotra” as “Dattatreya” and caste identity as “Kashmiri Brahmin” during a puja ceremony in Pushkar in 2018.
The viral image is a little blurred, Facto News found out that the claim is misleading and she is digging into maize corn.
A Twitter user, Sunny Tamak Ram, posted the photo with the caption that reads: “दत्तात्रेय ब्राह्मण राहुल गांधी की दादी #Sea_food का आनंद उठाते हुए !!” (Translation: Grandmother of Dattatreya Brahmin Rahul Gandhi enjoying seafood.)
