Written by Md Mahfooz Alam

A video of a man calling for ‘Muslim dominance’ is being massively shared across social media platforms. In the video, the man clad in the black suit is lecturing his co-religionists to become the number one community in education by producing lawyers, doctors, IT engineers, and professionals in the other sectors.

It is being claimed by the users sharing the video that the man is the owner of the Himalayas company. The caption along with the video reads, “ये मुल्ला हिमालया कम्पनी का मालिक है। जो फेस वाश व ब्यूटी प्रॉडक्ट्स आदि सामान बनाती है। इसकी कम्पनी के उत्पादों का बहिष्कार करें। घुटनों पर आ जायगा। कृपया हर समूह में भेजें और जागरूक करें।” [Translation: This mullah is the owner of Himalaya Company. Which manufactures items like face wash and beauty products etc. Boycott its company products. Will come to his knees. Please send to every group and make aware.] (Archive)

The video is being widely shared on Facebook too.

FactO Check:

The man in the video is not the owner of Himalaya. We broke the video into keyframes using Google Chrome extension InVID and reverse searched the keyframe images on Google. The result led us to an article published by Hyderbad based newspaper —The Siasat Daily — titled, “Stop mourning Babri Masjid, ensure Muslims are represented everywhere”.  The article carries the image of the man and calls him a lawyer, however, doesn’t name the person.

The man has used a lot of Urdu words in the viral video, taking this cue we translated the Siasat Daily title into Urdu, “بابری مسجد پر ماتم کرنا بند کریں ، یقینی بنائیں کہ ہر جگہ مسلمانوں کی نمائندگی کی جائے”. We then searched the Urdu title on Google, Twitter and Facebook.  The Facebook search directed us to a video of over 12 minutes uploaded by the page named Naqi Ahmed Nadwi. ( The Demolition of Babri Masjid and construction of Ram Mandir in its place is a turning point in Indian history that Muslims must seriously consider!). The viral video is clipped from this 12-minute video. In the Facebook bio, Naqi Ahmed Nadwi calls himself an author.

We also found a website by the name Naqi Ahmed Nadwi. According to the website, Nadwi is an Islamic Scholar, writer and speaker.

Who owns Himalaya?

Himalaya was founded by Mr M Manal in the year 1930 and according to the companies website, the founder had the “vision to bring the traditional Indian science of Ayurveda to society in a contemporary form.” Meraj Manal the son of the founder is the Chairman of Himalaya Global Holdings Ltd. and its Global CEO is Shailendra Malhotra.

Conclusion: Naqi Ahmed Nadwi is in no way associated with Himalaya and the claim of him being the owner of the company is untrue.
