A video that shows chanting of pro-Khalistan slogans and slogans in favour of Deep Sidhu is in circulation on social media platforms with the claim of it being after the Aam Admi Party (AAP) victory in the recently concluded Punjab Assembly election 2022.
The result of the polls was announced on Thursday, 10 March with AAP winning 92 of the 117 Assembly seats.
Facto News found out that the claim is misleading and the video predates AAP victory in Punjab.
On Twitter, the video is being shared with the caption that reads: “लो पंजाब नई सरकार का तोहफा… *खालिस्तानी खेला शुरू हो गया गुरु केजरीवाल अब बता तेरी ताकत खालिस्तानिओ को अब मत बोलना की मेरे पास पुलिस नही है ”
(Translation: Take the gift of the new Punjab government… * Khalistani Khela has started Guru Kejriwal now tell your strength don’t tell Khalistanis now that I don’t have police )
Using the InVID WeVerify Google Chrome extension, we fragmented the video into keyframes and performed a reverse image search on some of them.
The election result as mentioned above was declared on 10 March; however, we found the viral video posted by several users on social media in February. A Twitter user posted the video on 25 February with a caption that says a rally was organised in Punjab demanding a separate state of Khalistan and it also had the poster of terrorist Bhindranwale and actor Deep Sidhu.
pic.twitter.com/aVFEa4C0r6

Using the keywords, we searched the news reports and found the same video published by NEWJ on 25 February on Facebook.
The report carries the same video and its caption says that pro-Khalistan slogans were raised in the memory of Deep Sidhu.
Further, we also found a news article of The Tribune published on 16 February, the newspaper reports that pro-Khalistan slogans were raised during the funeral of Deep Sidhu in Ludhiana.
Therefore, it’s evident from the above findings that the video is from the funeral procession of Deep Sidhu and it predates Assembly polls result.
