Fake Viral

Short film on women safety awareness passed off with communal spin

Written by Md Mahfooz Alam

A video of 3:13 seconds is viral on social media with the claim of Jihadi goons molesting girls. In the video, three boys can be seen misbehaving with two girls at a bus stop. The two girls are sitting apart on two different chairs, after an argument with the first girl, the boys starts harassing the other girl.

However, the first girl rescues the second girl from boys by spraying something on their eyes.

Facto News found out that the claim of molestation by the Jihadi goons is false and the video is a short film on women safety awareness.

Yogi Yogesh Agarwal, posted the video on Twitter with the caption that reads: यह जिहादी गुन्डे इन लड़कियो को द्देड़ २हे थे ,इन लड़कियो ने तीनों की ऑखें फोड़ दी अव यह तीनों जिहादी जमीन पर लोट रहे है। हिन्दुओ अपनी लड़की को ऐसी शिक्षा दो जो उनकी तरफ ऑख उठाये वह उसकी ऑख निकाल ले। . जय श्री राम”

(Translation: These Jihadi goons were molesting these girls, these girls broke the eyes of all three and all three jihadis are rolling on the ground. Hindus, give such an education to your girl that they pluck out the eyes of those who lift their eyes on them.  Jai Shree Ram)

FactO Check:

Using InVID WeVerify Google chrome extension, we fragmented the video into keyframes. On reverse image searching one of the keyframes, we were directed to a Facebook page by the name LOBO 619.  The same video was posted by the page on 29 February and has a disclaimer added to it that the page posts scripted dramas and parodies.

The caption along the post reads: “THIS WAS SO UNEXPECTED” and the disclaimer along with the caption reads: “Thank you for watching! Please be aware that this page features scripted dramas and parodies as well. These short films are for educational purposes only!”

We checked the Facebook timeline of the page and found many such videos posted with the same disclaimer. We also found the administrator of the page is Mohammed Khayyum, popularly known by the name Lobo. He is an actor based in Hyderabad, Telangana and was also one of the contestants in Bigg Boss Telugu—season 5.

Conclusion:

The video is for educational purposes and the claim of molestation is misleading and false.
