Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections, the Twitter handle of UP Congress and its supporters have shared a photo on social media in which two elderly men can be seen holding a poster in support of the Congress party. The poster has the symbol of the Congress party and the text on the poster says: “Congress is coming back to Uttar Pradesh”.
The two men holding the poster symbolises communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims. While one man can be seen clad in saffron clothes, the other is wearing a skull cap. The users sharing the poster claims people of all communities are voting for Congress in the assembly polls.
Facto News has investigated the photo and found the poster was edited. The two men are in reality were holding the poster, which has West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s picture.
UP East Youth Congress Twitter handle posted the photo with the caption that reads: “गंगा जमुनी तहजीब की तस्वीर चंद ज़हरीले लोगो के जहर से खत्म नही होने वाली । ये तस्वीर इस और भी इशारा कर रही है कि उत्तरप्रदेश के दिल मे इस बार सिर्फ कांग्रेस है । हिन्दू मुस्लिम सिक्ख ईसाई आपस में हम भाई भाई! बोलता उत्तरप्रदेश आ रही है काँग्रेस! #AaRahiHaiCongress”
(Translation: Culture of Ganga Jamuna Tehzeeb can’t be wiped out by a few poisonous people. This picture is further indicating that this time only Congress is in the heart of Uttar Pradesh. Hindus, Muslims Sikhs and Christians are brothers amongst ourselves! Congress is coming to Uttar Pradesh! #AaRahiHaiCongress)
We went through the comment box on the post of UP East Youth Congress and found and similar photo with the TMC poster shared by a user who claimed that the photo with the TMC poster is the real one. However, we found the background in both the photos different.

We then conducted a reverse image search of both photos on Google. The result led us to a Facebook post of 2 March 2021 by a verified account Didi Ke Bolo. The post indeed has the same two elderly men holding the TMC poster and its background is the same as the one shared by the Congress handle.
Didi Ke Bolo is an initiative that provides a platform for the people of West Bengal to dirctlely raise concerns or complaints to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
We also found actress and TMC MP Nusrat Jahan posting the same photo on 3 March 2021.
Shameless polarisation coming from the party that understands nothing of unity or peace!
FYI, Mr @amitmalviya people across all religions, caste groups, genders are rallying behind @MamataOfficial owing to her good work. Would recommend having some grip on your politics of hate! https://t.co/kPHt6azW3m pic.twitter.com/fioJXWjZnK

A comparison of the original photo with the edited one.
The photo in which two elderly men are holding the poster in support of TMC is the original photo while the one used by the Twitter handle of UP Youth Congress is digitally altered.
