Viral newspaper clip of New York Times praising Narendra Modi is Fake

In his three-day visit to the United States of America, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed the 76th session of United Nations Security Council and held meetings with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. After his visit to the United States, an morphed image, supposedly of New York Times is doing rounds in social media which hails Narendra Modi as the world’s best leader.

A Twitter user Flt Lt Anoop Verma (Retd.) shared the image with a caption that reads”

Another Twitter user Mukesh Rathwa shared the image with a caption that reads

FactO Check:

We first checked e-paper edition of New York Times on 26-september-2021 and found no mention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Then, we noticed the spelling of SEPTEMBER was mistyped as ‘SETPEMBER’.

By searching the volume number of the viral newspaper clip in the web, we found the original e-paper of New York Times, which is morphed with Narendra Modi’s image. The volume number (Vol CLXVi) and price($2.5) on both the newspaper is same, while the price mentioned in the 26-09-2021 newspaper is $6.

New York Times also issued a clarification on Twitter and said image is completely fabricated. 

Conclusion:
The newspaper clip is morphed.
