Viral photo of Subhas Chandra Bose reading the news of his own death in a plane crash is ‘Morphed’

Written by Sahban

There have been many questions regarding the ‘Mysterious’ death of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose since 1945. The initial investigations carried out by the British Army, the government of British India, the government of Japan, and the Allied Forces also reached to the same conclusion that Netaji suffered severe burns during the crash and later died in a hospital on the same day.

Now, a photo of Bose, holding a news paper doing rounds on Whatsapp with a claim that Subhash Chandra Bose is reading his own death news in an aircraft crash. The viral message reads as.

“On 23rd April, 1945 Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is reading the news of his death in a plane crash in a newspaper.”

We also received a message on our WhatsApp number to verify the claim.

FactO check:

A reverse image search of the image directed us to two tweets by Anuj Dhar. According to Garuda books, Anuj Dhar is an Indian author and former journalist who has published many books on the life of the freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. One of the famous books by Anuj Dhar is ‘Netaji Rahasya Gatha’, that has been published in the Hindi language. The books talk about the mystery behind the death of Subhas Chandra Bose and if he died in the plane crash or if he was alive and lived with a secret identity. The book has been translated from its English version ‘India’s biggest cover-up’.

In his first tweet, he gives information about the picture as “Subhas Chandra Bose reading Nippon Times (now The Japan Times), Japan’s largest and oldest English-language daily newspaper” Archived version of the tweet can be found here.

In another tweet, he mentions “Original picture with some reimagination by @BiplabC2.” Archived version of the tweet can be found here.

Conclusion: The viral image is morphed to show that Subhash Chandra Bose is reading his own death news.
