This Friday, people in mourning deposited flowers and lit candles in the destroyed building, where excavators were heavy pieces of rubble. The makeshift sanctuary included colorful stuffed animals.

Olda Kinal, 43, who deposited flowers in honor of a co -worker who died with his son, said he hoped Trump fulfill his threat but also expressed doubts.

“I think the United States has many points of influence that can be used against Russia,” she said. “But Putin will hear that? I don’t know.”

The rescue service said 16 of the injured were children, the largest number of children injured in a single attack on the capital of Ukraine since Russia began its large -scale invasion almost three and a half years ago.

The city’s authorities declared Friday as a day of mourning.

“This morning, the body of a 2-year-old has been removed from the rubble,” said Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko in the X. “The world has all the necessary instruments to ensure that Russia is brought to justice. What is missing is not power-but will,” said Svyrydenko.
