45.8% say that public security has worsened under the Lula government, points out Paraná Pesquisas

The perception of worsening public security predominates among Brazilians, according to a survey by Paraná Pesquisas released this Wednesday (29). According to data obtained by the institute, 45.8% of those interviewed say that security in the country “worsened” during the third term of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Another 17.2% say that the situation has improved, while 33.9% believe that it has remained the same. Only 3.1% were unable to answer.

The refinery was closed by the Federal Revenue Service and the ANP on September 19 due to suspected irregularities discovered in Operation Carbon Chain

The survey was carried out between October 21st and 24th, before the mega police operation in Rio de Janeiro, which may have left more than 100 people dead and was classified as the deadliest in the state’s history.

The question asked to those interviewed was: “With President Lula in government, has the public security situation in Brazil improved, worsened or remained the same?”

2,020 people were interviewed in 26 states and the Federal District, with a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points and a confidence level of 95%.

Situation of the poorest

Despite pessimism regarding security, 38.1% of Brazilians consider that the situation of the poorest has improved under the Lula government. Another 31.3% believe it has gotten worse, and 27.3% say it has remained the same.

The positive perception in this regard reflects the resumption of social programs and policies aimed at income transfer — pillars of the PT government’s agenda since the beginning of its mandate.

Education and health

In the area of public education, the numbers show division. 34.3% say the situation has gotten worse, 29.1% say it has improved and 32.5% say there has been no change. Another 4.1% did not respond.

In the case of public health, the scenario is similar. For 33.5% of those interviewed, the system has gotten worse, while 26.3% say it has improved. The majority, 36.7%, consider that the situation remains the same.

Financial situation of families

Regarding financial conditions, 40% of those interviewed stated that they had not noticed any changes since the beginning of the current government. 27.9% say they got worse, and 27.8% say they got better.

The balance in the responses indicates that, although part of the population sees economic advances, the perception of stagnation is still the majority.
