Yesterday, US Attorney General Pam Bondi suggested that Garcia’s family is better without him. “The United States are safer because he is gone. Maryland is safer because he is gone. And that woman he is married to, and that child who had with her, are safer tonight because he is out of our country and sitting in El Salvador, where it is his place,” Bondi said in an interview with Fox News.
“No one is perfect, and no marriage is perfect,” said Jennifer Vasquez Sura, Garcia’s wife. She said she wants her husband back to the US and her 2021 protective measure is no reason for deportation. “This is not justification for Ice’s action to sequest him and deport him to a country of which he should be protected from being deported,” he said in a statement.
She also said she requested the protective measure as a precaution, as she suffered domestic violence in a previous relationship. “I acted by precaution after a disagreement with Kilmar, seeking a civil protection order if the situation worsened. The situation did not get worse, and I decided not to proceed with the civil process,” said Jennifer.
Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia is alive and safe in a prison for terrorists in El Salvador. The American embassy in El Salvador sent the reports on the deported. “Abrego Garcia is currently detained at the Terrorist Confinement Center in El Salvador. (…) He is alive and safe in that unit,” says the demonstration.
According to the US Department of Justice, Garcia entered the country illegally in 2012. In March 2019, he was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang and was recognized as such by the court in April of the same year. The Trump government did not have evidence that the man belongs to the gang.
