PSOL should appeal against Glauber’s cassation at CCJ on Tuesday

The Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL) should file an appeal against the decision that recommends the loss of federal deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) mandate. This Tuesday, 22, is the last day of the deadline for the presentation of this document. The cassation was approved by the Council of Ethics and Parliamentary Decorming of the Chamber of Deputies on April 9.

If the appeal is accepted, the process returns to the Ethics Council, where a new rapporteur will be appointed to the case. In the case of negative, the cassation follows the normal process and will be voted in plenary. The mayor, Hugo Motta, has already pledged not to lead the matter to the appreciation of parliamentarians in less than 60 days.

This type of appeal, directed to the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), is provided for in the House’s Internal Regulations. The definition of the agenda, however, is the attribution of the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB).

Following the decision of the Ethics Council for the revocation of the deputy, Braga began a hunger strike that lasted more than a week, held in the same plenary where the vote took place.

As Estadão showed, the protest was terminated after an agreement signed between the mayor, Arthur Lira, with PT and PSOL leaders in the House, Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) and Talíria Petrone (PSOL-RJ), as well as deputy Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP), who is Glauber’s wife. Lira pledged not to bring the process of cassation to the plenary before the second semester, ensuring time for the defense of the parliamentarian.
