Lula says Brazil will charge US for change in Erika Hilton visa
The president said he will pass this direction to Vieira. “To defend this (Erika’s Gender Declaration) is to defend Brazilian sovereignty. It’s the least we expect,” he said.
The chancellor received the deputy this week, but she was not pleased. According to her, Vieira heard her demands, but did not show many ways to solve the problem. “So, I felt that I was a little fragile this issue with Itamaraty,” the deputy told the press after the meeting.
According to Vieira, however, it is a matter of national sovereignty. “This (the change) is a sovereign decision of the United States and is the application of American law,” the chancellor said in an interview with CNN Brazil over the weekend.
Trump changed gender understanding in the country as soon as he assumed in January, which caused thousands of internal documents. “It will be the official policy of the United States that there are only two genders, male and female,” said the president, one day after the inauguration.
The executive order rules out self -declaration and establishes that genres are “unchanging from birth.” According to the Trump government’s understanding, they are defined by the person who has “the large reproductive cell” (female) and “the small reproductive cell” (male).
“I am a woman in my birth certificate, in my social security number, in my voter title, in my passport,” argued Hilton. “Even the passport which they stamped with male gender is feminine, so you can’t treat (in a way) this possibility.”
