PDT leader criticizes Lula government for treatment given to Lupi and threat with stampede
PDT leader in the House of Representatives, Mário Heringer (MG) criticizes the conduct of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the crisis involving the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and the treatment given to the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi. According to him, the resignation of the chief of the portfolio could also lead to the departure of the bench from the base.
“I defend this position (the exit). My bench, as far as I know, everyone advocates this position. Of course, it is not just exclusively on me, but this is the position I will defend,” he said.
In his assessment, the government has been adopting a dubious position in conducting the crisis. The Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, defended Lupi’s permanence in government, but said that if there is something in the future, it will be removed. A few hours after this interview, Lula appointed federal prosecutor Gilberto Waller Junior as new president of the INSS, without consulting Lupi.

“Gleisi’s interview was Solomonica. She says that the government will keep the minister and then the minister disqualifies the minister making the Nomination of the INSS president without talking to Lupi before. If he believed in our position, he would call Lupi together and would indicate together,” said Heringer.
For the PDT leader in the House, the government should take part in the responsibility, not just play Lupi.
“In fact, the minister is the minister, but who approves is the Civil House. Lupi indicated, but you signed below.” stated. “This responsibility is that the government should understand that it has in its appointment, and having worked with us along with the defense of the minister’s position. This is a position of extreme embarrassment.”
Last week, the Federal Police and the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) triggered an operation that identified an irregular charging scheme that total R $ 6.3 billion between 2019 and 2024, according to the PF.
In the process, 11 associative entities were the subject of judicial measures. In exchange for monthly discounts, they claim that they provide services of various types, such as funeral assistance, medical consultations and “rental husbands” (repairs in homes). The operation led to the former president of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), Alessandro Stefanutto, appointed by Lupi.
On Wednesday, the 31st, the Federal Court ordered the breach of the secrecy of Stefanutto’s personal and corporate communications and six other high-ranking member of the municipality on suspicion of involvement with the scheme.
In the House, the pressure on the government and about Lupi grow. Also on Wednesday, the opposition filed an application requesting the creation of a Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (CPI) to investigate the fraud. It is up to the president of the house, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), to open or not the CPI.
In a House hearing on Tuesday, Pension Minister Carlos Lupi defended himself and said there were no actions on fraud now under investigation in past governments and said that the mentors are already appearing.
