Blackout in Spain affected communication in Greenland; Services fell for 6 hours
Internet interruptions and telephony in various parts of Greenland were in fact related to the large power outage in the Iberian Peninsula, Greenland’s operator Tusass confirmed.
“We depend on international networks. Therefore, energy cuts in Spain can, in exceptional cases, affect communications in Greenland,” said Jonas Hasselriis, director of operations at Tusass, quoted in a group statement on Tuesday night.
On Monday, Tusass reported loss of connection with the team that manages the satellite link located in Maspalomas, Spain.
