STF judges on Tuesday (6) “core of misinformation” of the attempted coup; See names
The first class of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) decides on Tuesday (7) if the third complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against the call Disinformation coregroup pointed out as responsible for propagating virtual attacks, conspiracy theories and false news against the electoral system and public authorities during the 2022 coup campaign.
According to the PGR, the group acted in a coordinated manner to undermine the credibility of the electronic ballot boxes and to pressure institutions that did not join the institutional rupture plan. If the complaint is accepted, the total number of defendants linked to the plot rises to 21, including former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), already formally accused by the Court.

The nucleus under analysis consists of seven people. Among the targets are the former army junior Ailton Barros, the reserve sergeant Giancarlo Rodrigues and the federal police officer Marcelo Bormevet, both former members of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) during the management of Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ), who is also a defendant.

According to the prosecution, Barros would have promoted public attacks on the then commanders of the Armed Forces, such as Marco Antonio Freire Gomes (Army) and Carlos Almeida Baptista Junior (Aeronautics), for not supporting the coup plan. His defense argues that he only made “outbursts” in private messages.
Rodrigues and Bormevet are pointed out as responsible for spreading false content and coordinating digital misinformation actions from ABIN. Both deny involvement with any coup plot and claim that they had only functional relationships during the period.
Four other names complete the group reported: Colonel Reginaldo Vieira de Abreu, Lieutenant Colonel Guilherme Marques Almeida, Reserve Angelo Denicoli and businessman Carlos Rocha, president of the Vot Legal Institute, a PL entity to support the request for partial annulment of the electoral result. All reject the accusations.
In the complaint, the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, states that the group “deliberately propagated misinformation to weaken confidence in the Electoral Justice and foster undemocratic acts.”
To date, the Supreme Court has accepted complaints against eight people from the central core of the alleged criminal organization, including Bolsonaro, and against six group members who reportedly coordinated the logistics and operational actions of the coup attempt, such as former PRF director Silvinei Vasques.
The analysis of the new nucleus should consolidate the Supreme’s line of understanding that there was organized and multifaceted structure, with division of tasks between military, civilians and digital operators, to try to prevent Lula’s possession after the 2022 elections.
