Eduardo Bolsonaro says that process in Brazil has become "find" and cites sanction to Moraes

Licensed federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) reacted with criticism of the investigation filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) about his performance in the United States against Brazilian authorities.

Speaking public statements on Tuesday (28), former President Jair Bolsonaro’s son stated that the lawsuits in Brazil “became a way of finding” and compared the institutional performance to “gangsters”.

The demonstration occurs after the PGR asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to open an inquiry to investigate whether the deputy would be seeking foreign interference in Brazilian court proceedings, especially in favor of his father, who is currently a defendant for attempted coup. The request was sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of actions related to the case.

Governor of Ceará also commented on dispute between the former minister and brother, Senator Cid Gomes

“They are confirming everything we have always said: that Brazil has become a state of exception. Lawsuits are no longer based on the law, but on political facts,” said Eduardo.

In the view of the licensed parliamentarian, the investigation reinforces the tendency of international sanction to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, articulated by members of the US Republican Party, including Senator Marco Rubio.

He stated that there is pressure for the US government to impose restrictions on the magistrate, which, in the evaluation of Bolsonaro’s allies, could politically strengthen the pocket field to 2026.

“The icing on the cake are pressing Trump to sanction Moraes. A mobster would do the same. They are making it exposed for everyone to see.”

The Brazilian government has dealt with any sanction to the STF minister as a threat to national sovereignty, which can cause diplomatic friction with the United States. Eduardo, however, minimized the risks and transferred political responsibility to President Lula:

“If the Lula government wants to buy the Moraes fight and dive Brazil in a dispute against the United States – which are notoriously the strongest side – this will be a choice of the president. And if this is the choice, the people will have to change presidents, because this is not defending the interests of Brazilians, but those of Alexandre de Moraes.”

The deputy has been licensed since March and is currently in the United States, where he has met with parliamentarians and members of the American right at closed events. In recent weeks, it has intensified public statements against the Supreme Court, the Federal Police and the PGR, denouncing alleged political persecution.

The international offensive of the Boconist Group, which tries to guide the political persecution speech in foreign forums, is seen with concern for government sectors and can increase institutional tension between powers, and raise the diplomatic costs of eventual US retaliation.
