Defense of Torres seeks to rule out former minister of blitze in the 2nd shift and live on ballot boxes

The defense of former Justice Minister Anderson Torres tried to extract from witnesses on Tuesday, 27, that there was no “targeted policing” in the 2022 elections nor a political content at a meeting on October 19 of that year. At the time, the largest number would be drawn in the northeast region in the second round of the presidential election.

In the statements to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in the criminal case that investigates attempted coup d’état, another point explored was the “call” of Torres by then -President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to participate in Live with unlinning attacks at the electronics ballot in 2021.

Of the 11 deponents heard on Tuesday, the defense inquired five people who said they had attended that meeting and all denied some political or favoring Bolsonaro content at the meeting in October.

They were the former director of Federal Highway Police Operations (PRF) Djairlon Henrique Moura; Former director to combat Federal Police organized crime Caio Rodrigo Pelim; the former director general of the Federal Police Marcio Nunes; Former deputy director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) Alessandro Moretti and PF delegate Marcos Paulo Cardoso.

All witnesses said the meeting dealt with policing in the second round and federal police “usual” procedures. One of them, Djairlon, was the target of the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet.

He recalled that Djairlon was indicted in an investigation investigating the blitze. Because of this, the rapporteur of the case, Minister Alexandre de Moraes said that Djairlon would have protected the right to lie about this episode.

The complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) brings a conversation in a Whatsapp group in which former Intelligence Director of the Ministry of Justice Marilia de Alencar stated that at this October 19, 2022 meeting was “exempt p… none” and “put a 22”, in reference to Jair Bolsonaro’s number of ballot box.

The defense also sought to take from the witnesses the information that Anderson Torres was forced by Bolsonaro to participate in the live with attacks without evidence to the lightning ballot box in 2021. Two of them stated this: former Secretary of Integrated Operations of the Ministry of Justice Braulio do Carmo Vieira and Marcio Nunes, former director general of PF.

Braulio said that he would have been summoned and that Torres would still make sense “discomfort” for having “technical ignorance” on the subject.

Nunes told the defense of Torres on Tuesday afternoon that the former minister was “summoned” by Bolsonaro to participate in that live.

Later, Gonet asked Nunes how he knew that. “There were comments. This contact (with Torres) was daily,” replied the former director general. The Attorney General insisted and questioned whether Torres would have been formally summoned or if the word was used in the sense of a mere call. Nunes said he did not make this distinction.

In addition to those already mentioned, the former director of ABIN Saulo Moura da Cunha, the former supportive of Integrated Operations of the Federal District Secretariat Cintia Queiroz de Castro, the head of the Federal Police Electoral Crimes Division Fabrício Rocha, former Minister of Education Victor Godoy and former director to combat Federal Police Organized Crime Luiz Flávio Zampronha.

Saulo said the agency was only able to dig the severity of the acts of January 8 the day before, Cintia stated that he was aware of the arrival of Caravans to Brasilia on the night of the 5th, but did not know of the intention of depredating public assets.
