Alckmin is discharged after being taken to hospital with gastroenteritis staff

Vice President Geraldo Alckmin was discharged on Thursday afternoon after receiving treatment for gastroenteritis, the Syrian-Lebanese hospital in a medical report said.

The vice president and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services should continue treatment at home, the hospital said.

“After clinical assessment and necessary exams, the medical team diagnosed a gastroenteritis staff, starting specific treatment, with great response,” said the report released this afternoon.

“The vice president was discharged on this date and will follow the treatment at home, with medical follow-up.”

The vice presidency had earlier in a statement that Alckmin was taken to the hospital in Brasilia after complaints of abdominal pain and sickness on Thursday morning, adding that preliminary examinations suggested a picture of intestinal inflammation and that he would still undergo complementary evaluations.

Alckmin’s discomfort, who is 72, occurs days after President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, 79, suffers a maze crisis that forced him to cancel part of his agenda, being replaced by Alckmin in one of his commitments.

Lula had a vertigo board shortly after lunch on Monday, which led him to cancel the afternoon schedule and go to the Syrian-Lebanese hospital, where he had a blood test and a tomography. According to the Planalto Palace, Lula stayed for about two hours in the hospital before returning to dawn.
