The tariffs, now released, are: Those announced by Trump on April 2, which includes a 10% rate on Brazil, in addition to the imposed tariffs against China, Mexico and Canada to combat the entry of Fentanil in the US.

In yesterday’s decision, the Court of Commerce understood that Trump had no authority to impose tariffs. The collegiate’s three judges stated that Congress is the authority for the imposition of tariffs.

For magistrates, there is no “unusual and extraordinary threat” that justifies that the Republican act alone. The decision occurs in response to a lawsuit filed by five companies and another presented by a group of prosecutors.

Trump’s ‘tariff’

On April 2, Trump announced a “tariff” about dozens of countries, including Brazil, which was taxed by 10%. However, a week later, he announced a 90 -day break in the application of tariffs except China.

After an exchange of tariffs between countries, the US adjusted the charge on the Chinese. On May 12, the White House announced that the articles imported from China will be subject to an additional 10%.
