Chamber approves urgency to vote suspension of IOF decree
The House of Representatives approved on Monday (16), by 346 votes in favor of 97 opposites, an urgent request to accelerate the processing of a project that suspends the effects of the Lula Government decree that raised the Financial Operations Tax (IOF).
The measure allows the proposal to go directly to the plenary, without going through the thematic committees. However, the vote on the merits has no date yet to happen.
The request was submitted by Deputy Zucco (PL-RS), opposition leader, and was supported by PP parliamentarians, União Brasil, Republicans and PSD-parties that make up the government base and command ministries.

The movement is seen as a sign of discontent with the Planalto Palace, especially in relation to the delay in the payment of parliamentary amendments.
Last week, the government had already partially retreated from the increase in IOF, reducing the fixed rate from 0.95% to 0.38% in credit operations. Still, it maintained the daily rate at 0.0082%.
Other changes included adjustments in the “risk risk” and VGBL contributions, with extended exemption ranges to avoid operational impacts on the insurance sector.
