Câmara exchanges command of the Ethics Council, and ally of Bolsonaro assumes presidency

The House of Representatives has installed this Tuesday council of ethics of the house with a new command. Since the beginning of the year, Mayor Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB) has maintained the same configuration as last year’s collegiate. Now, Deputy Fabio Schiochet (Union-SC), allied with Jair Bolsonaro, has become president.

“We cannot accept parliamentarians who attack this house,” he said in a speech during the installation.

Both Schiochet and former collegiate president Leur Lomanto Júnio (Union-BA) could not explain why Hugo Motta took a long time to exchange command.

Recently, the Council approved the suspension of mandate for three months of Federal Deputy Gilvan (PL-ES), due to offenses made against Minister Gleisi Hoffmann (institutional relations). According to the request headed by the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), Gilvan committed “conduct incompatible with parliamentary decorum” by making “severely offensive and defamatory demonstrations against a licensed deputy to occupy the position of Minister of State, in evident parliamentary prerogatives, which constitutes behavior incompatible with the dignity of the mandate”.

The board also approved the revocation of Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) mandate, in which case it will now be evaluated by the plenary, without forecast given by Motta, for now. Glauber Braga and MBL’s militant Gabriel Costenaro discussed within the chamber’s premises. There were pushes and kicks of the parliamentarian against the militant.

Last year, the House’s Ethics Council approved the opinion that recommends the revocation of Chiquinho Brazão’s mandate (without party-RJ). The case did not advance to the plenary of the house and Brazão lost his mandate for absences, in a decision published by Hugo Motta.
