Heat wave in Europe: 2 -year -old child dies in Spain after being left in a car

A two-year-old child died in Valls in the Catalan province of Tarragona on Tuesday after being left for several hours in a car parked under the sun amid a heat wave that hits Spain, police told AFP.

Emergency services, triggered early in the afternoon, failed to revive the child, explained a spokesman for Mossos d’Amequadra, the Catalan police.

“It seems that there was negligence on the part of the father. The child was in the car locked all morning, even an adult would have died. In a closed car, in the sun, it is impossible to survive,” the spokesman explained, adding that an investigation has started.
