Mec wants to extend her foot to all of the public high school
The Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, said on Friday (11) that he wants to universalize the Federal Program Foot to all public high school students, from 2026. The statement was given during the disclosure of the literate child indicator in Brazil of 2024.
By MEC calculations, the universalization of the foot will need another $ 5 billion from the public coffers. To enable the budgetary expansion, the minister has been talking to representatives of the National Congress.
The minister reports that when he was launched in January 2024, the sock was initially intended for the beneficiaries of the Bolsa Familia program. In the second half, the so -called “high school savings” was expanded to public school students with active registration in the Federal Government’s Single Registry of Social Programs (Cadúnico), which allowed the growth of the number of beneficiaries from 2.5 million to more than 4 million public high school in one year.

Camilo Santana explains that, currently, family income per person is the criterion for active registration in CadÚnico and, therefore, delimits those who are entitled to the benefit of the financial-educational incentive program, which added to R $ 9,200 in the three school years of high school.
The federal program aims to promote the permanence and school completion of students enrolled in public high school and thus democratize access and reduce social inequality among young people.
