“The pix is ours”: Government starts response to Trump and prepares a note to the US
The federal government released on Wednesday afternoon (16) a new publication in response to the investigation open by the United States that questions PIX as an unfair commercial practice. With the phrase “Pix is ours, My Friend”, the image was published on social networks accompanied by a text of Tom Jocosa.
“The pix is from Brazil and Brazilians! It seems that our pix has been causing a darn jealousy outside, see? 🤔 There is even a letter complaining about the existence of our safe, confidential and without rates,” says the message.
The play is the government’s first reaction to Trump’s threat announced last night. According to the calculation of S.Paulo Folhathe Lula administration has also begun the elaboration of a technical response to reinforce that the payment system is consolidated, legal and will not be modified by external pressures.

According to the newspaper, the government’s analysis began on Tuesday night (15), after the Office of the US Commerce Representative (USTR) formalizing the investigation based on section 301 of the 1974 American Commercial Law. The investigation claims that PIX could negatively affect the competitiveness of US companies in the digital financial sector.
Also according to Sheetit has not yet been defined which Brazilian authority will officially speak about the subject. However, Planalto sources told the newspaper that the line adopted will be of firmness without alarmism, avoiding any campaign that causes insecurity in the use of PIX, as previously occurred with rumors about taxation.
This reaction is expected to be coordinated between Itamaraty, the Ministries of Finance, Development and Justice, and the Central Bank. A public hearing about the case is scheduled for September 3 in Washington.
“Factoid”
Also according to the newspaper’s investigation, members of the Lula government indicate that the American investigation has more symbolic than effective value. The internal evaluation is that it is an attempt to force Brazil with dialogue, without solid technical basis. THE Sheetan assistant classified the procedure as “factoid”.
The history of Section 301 also underlies this reading: of the 130 investigations opened since 1974, only one fraction has resulted in commercial sanctions or retaliation.
Pix and other targets of the US offensive
In addition to Pix, USTR cited a series of questions in the opening of the investigation, including:
- E -commerce and digital platforms;
- Protection of intellectual property (with mention of 25 de Março Street in SP);
- Preferred tariffs;
- Barriers to American ethanol;
- Illegal deforestation;
- Failures in the application of anti-corruption standards (with references to Operation Car Wash).
The White House document states that these Brazilian practices may be “discriminatory and harmful to US commerce.”
