Why Brazil and China are targets of commercial investigation by the USA
THE Investigation is done by the USA (USA Commercial Representation Office). The agency focuses on alleged attacks by countries to US social media companies and other unfair business practices that undermine US companies, workers, farmers and technological innovators, according to Jamieson Greer, US commercial representative.
China is investigated for alleged market dominance. In mid -December, the US government has announced that the investigation aims to determine to what extent China uses “anti -specific and anti -tried media” in the semiconductor industry (chips) to “master the world market”.
At the time, US Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, classified as worrying the predominance of Chinese chips in the market. “Almost two thirds of American products contain chips from China, something worrying. Beijing seeks to dominate the market and, given the methods used, we see companies that hesitate to invest in the United States,” said Raimondo.
China’s performance would hurt Americans, according to the US commercial representation office. According to USTR, there is a fear that Chinese policies weaken “the competitiveness of US companies and workers, the country’s essential supply chains and the country’s economic security.” A final report on the case should be released by the end of this year.
