The wave of looting continues on Wednesday (30), in various areas of Luanda, as well as in the provinces of Bengo and Icolo and Bengo. In riots, there are citizens who challenge the shots of the defense and security forces.

According to reports collected by the local press, the increase in cost of living and the lack of government response stricken the climate of revolt.

Gildo Matias, heard by the report of RFIHe stated that “when the fuel rises, the prices of the basic basket also go up. It was a wrong way, but it was the only way we found to manifest. Life is very difficult.”

Vandalism

Another resident, Hugo GuimarĂ£es, witnessed the clashes in the Caop-B neighborhood of Viana. “Not all who were on the street were protesters. Some took advantage of the protests to invade warehouses and loot, saying they were part of the demonstration. But the police also acted badly, because it is not correct to shoot the people,” he said.

In an official statement, the Interior Minister of Angola, Manuel Homem, stressed that the acts of vandalism endangered public safety not only in Luanda, but also in interior cities. In the last 48 hours, in addition to the dead and detainees, 197 were injured.
