Ministry suggested purchase by the government of what will cease to be exported to the US
The Minister of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira (PT), said in an interview with Broadcastwhich the ministry suggested to the government to buy the products that will no longer be exported to the United States because of the tariffs adopted by the US country.
“The negotiations are happening, but there will be a contingency plan, yes, and even my ministry suggested that this was one of the measures to be adopted,” said Teixeira, who participates this Sunday of the 17th National Meeting of the PT, in Brasilia.

Government purchases, therefore, are among the more than 30 measures presented by ministries to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Last week, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said that it will be up to the agent to choose which actions of the “contingency plan” will be implemented.
According to Teixeira, purchases can happen in three modalities: through the National School Feeding Program, for lunch; via food acquisition program; or in the modality of institutional purchases, to supply hospitals or universities, for example.
