Ukraine discovers internal corruption scandal in the purchase of drones
“The essence of the scheme was to complete state contracts with suppliers at deliberately inflated prices” up to 30%, according to agencies.
The arrested parliamentarian is Oleksii Kuznetsov, who belongs to the same party of President Volodimir Zelenski. The acronym reacted with the announcement of its suspension until the conclusion of the investigations.
Zelenski under pressure from Ukrainian civil society
“There can only be zero tolerance for corruption, of course teamwork to expose corruption and, as a result, a fair sentence,” said President Zelenski in a message published on Telegram.
Zelenski – who still has good approval among the Ukrainians and, because of the war, enjoys broad presidential powers – was forced to go back in his attempt to put Nabu and the frog under the control of his Attorney General to supposedly prevent Russian interference.
The retreat was praised by Ukraine’s allies in Europe, who had expressed concern about the onslaught against corruption combat bodies and warned Zelenski that the action would disturb Kiev’s admission to the European Union.
