Alckmin: Government announces until Tuesday contingency plan to affect the tariff
The vice president and minister of industry, Geraldo Alckmin, said on Thursday, 7, that the contingency plan to help the sectors affected by the United States tariff is expected to leave until next Tuesday, 12.
“He (plan) was introduced to President Lula, ended the work last night. The president will beat the hammer and there will be announced. If not tomorrow, probably on Monday or Tuesday,” Alckmin told reporters.
According to Alckmin, the contingency plan is “exactly to be able to serve those more affected companies, which have a larger export and lower export to the United States.”

He stated that a “ruler” will be placed, as there are sectors where 90%of production go to the domestic market, with export of 5%, at most 10%, while in other sectors half of the production is intended for export. “There are sectors that, what exports, more than half is to the United States. So they were very exposed, they are very exposed,” he said.
Alckmin also cited the fishing sector as an example, explaining that, in the case of tilapia, the highest consumption is internal. Already the tuna has most of the production intended for export. “Sometimes within a sector, you have a differentiation from those who export more and less,” he argued.
