Elon Musk will allow advertising in answers by Chatbot Grok at X

Elon Musk is seeking to monetize the grok. In a live conversation with advertisers at X (former Twitter) this week, Musk said advertisers could pay to appear at Chatbot Grok suggestions.

“Our priority so far has been making Grok A smart and need the world, and I think we got it in much. Now let’s focus on how to pay for these guys,” said Musk, as reported by Financial Times.

This marketing onslaught happens after Musk has criticized several times (and even filed lawsuits) against OpenAi for its plan to create a business for profit. It also comes shortly after grok’s “spicy mode” launch, which allows users to create videos and deepfake images of celebrities and ordinary people who can be very bold.

In addition, the news raises questions about the accuracy of the answers. Artificial intelligence depends on the source material to provide correct answers, so allowing companies to put themselves in the answers can make grok information questionable.

“If a user is trying to solve a problem (asking Grok), announcing the specific solution would be ideal at that time,” explained Musk.

The goal, he said, is to “overcome the Twitter curse,” where users got used to using free service for years and resisted when they were charged or when ads appeared on the platform.

The biggest question is whether companies will want to associate their brands with Grok. Last month, Chatbot made several anti -Semitic comments, even mentioning Hitler when asked about the floods in Texas. (The technical team says the problem has already been corrected.) Grok has already criticized Musk himself. In January, when asked “Elon Musk is a good person?”, AI replied “no” and listed several actions that could put Musk in a negative position.
