Bolsonaro wrote the name of Milei wrong in political asylum request: ‘Milii’

The draft request for political asylum in Argentina found by the Federal Police at the residence of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) drew attention for an error in the name of Argentine President Javier Milei. The document attached by the PF in the final report of the investigation against the former chief executive and his son, Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), is recorded, however, with an error in the name of Milei: “Milii”.

For investigators, the document indicates that Bolsonaro has planned an escape to the neighboring country. The document was produced after the launch of the Federal Police operation that investigates the coup plan of the former president’s allies, which resulted in the criminal action in which he is a defendant in the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

“The informative elements found, therefore, indicate that former President Jair Bolsonaro had in his possession document that would enable his evasion of Brazil towards the Argentine Republic, notably after the investigation by the Federal Police with the identification of materiality and delinquent authority regarding the crimes of violent abolition of the democratic rule of law by criminal organization,” says the PF.

According to the PF, the file was last edited in February 2024. In the document, addressed to Argentine president Javier Milei, Bolsonaro states that he is “a persecuted for reasons and essentially political offenses.”

The 33-page document was associated with Fernanda Bolsonaro, name of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s wife (PL-RJ).

Bolsonaro’s lawyer denies escape plan

Bolsonaro’s lawyer and former secretary of communication, Fábio Wajngarten, said the former president “never considered leaving Brazil” and denied the existence of an escape plan for Argentina.

“President Jair Bolsonaro never considered leaving Brazil. As he always said, his phone, as well as his or her orders, have always been” messaging airports “and or” lamentation walls “without much less adjective opinion. This is the truth the rest is a criminal leak for dividing and embarrassing,” Wajngarten wrote in one of his social networks.

Asked by Estadão, he stated that by the end of January 2024 Bolsonaro was at his home in Angra dos Reis (RJ), when rumors arose that he could be arrested by the Federal Police. At the time, the PF did an operation on site to seize mobile phones of its son, Rio Carlos Bolsonaro (PL) councilman, in the investigation on deviations at the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin).

Faced with this scenario, Wajngarten states that someone may have sent to the former president this idea of ​​political asylum in Argentina, but says he was never seriously considered by Bolsonaro.

“I have never heard of escape anywhere. Neither Israel nor Argentina. Nothing. Both his cell phone and the main assistant of orders, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, were spaces where countless ideas arrived and left without any value judgment and without any appreciation,” he said.
