Typhoon Kajiki Strength withdrawn from over 600,000 people in Vietnam and China
The typhoon should hit Hainan later this Sunday. The city of Sanya, known as resorts by the sea, was one of the most affected and received red alert-the maximum level of the Chinese weather system-for lightning, intense storms and gusts up to 182 km/h.
THE Phenomenon already has winds equivalent to a category 2 hurricane. According to the United States Navy Tufts Complex, Kajiki registered a speed of 167 km/h on Sunday afternoon at local time.
Hainan Island is one of China’s main tourist destinations. In 2024, the region received more than 97 million visitors, which increases the concern with the economic and logistics impacts of Typhoon’s passage.
Vietnam
In Vietnam, the government also started a wide preventive evacuation. More than 586,000 people were removed from four provinces, with public shelters set up to receive the population in safer areas.
