Ethics Commission maintains punishment of former Bolsonaro minister for ‘parallel cabinet’
The Public Ethics Committee (CEP) of the Presidency of the Republic rejected a request for reconsideration of the penalty applied to former Minister of Education Milton Ribeiro, of the government of Jair Bolsonaro, by the scheme of the “parallel cabinet” in the Ministry of Education (MEC). The report of Estadão revealed that Milton Ribeiro allowed a group of evangelical pastors, with no formal relationship with the MEC, to interfere with the agenda and deliveries of the ministry. The group acted to favor the release of funds for allies.

The Ethics Committee understood that the reconsideration request did not bring new elements and could modify the previous understanding of April.
The defense of the former minister also claimed that the lawfulness of a recording in which Milton Ribeiro appeared talking about the distribution of public funds is being questioned in a police inquiry.
