Pope Leo asks for an end of the ‘gun pandemic’ after shooting in the USA

Pope Lion, the first leader of the United States-born world Catholic Church, prayed on Sunday so that God “holds the gun pandemia” after Wednesday’s shooting at a Catholic school in the US state of Minnesota that killed two children.

“Our prayers (go) to the victims of the tragic shooting,” Leo said, speaking in English, in a weekly prayer with crowds in St. Peter’s Square. “Let us be pleading with God to stop the pandemic with large and small weapons, which infects our world,” said the Pope.

Leo was elected Pope by cardinals from around the world in May after Pope Francis’ death. He has shown a different style from his predecessor, rarely talking about improvisation and usually preferring a more cautious tone in his public appeals.
