Amnesty PL gets wide version and follows without consensus or voting date in the Chamber

Former President Jair Bolsonaro’s allies articulate to insist next week to advance Amnesty’s Bill (PL), which would benefit involved in the scammers of January 8. It is said to have 300 votes the factor of a project that exempts actions taken since 2019. However there is no consensus on which proposal would be voted and there are obstacles to the House of Representatives.

This Thursday (4), the leader of the PL Sostenes Cavalcante (RJ) let one of the projects of projects that are under discussion. The text grants amnesty for cases that are not yet object of investigation. In Article 1, the draft speaks of amnesty to all those who, “in the period between March 14, 2019 and the date of entry into force of this Law, have been or are or eventually may be investigated, processed or convicted”.

Among the conduct to be amnesty are, for example: verbal or written manifestations, including those made on public roads, internet pages, social networks, public agencies, media or any other channels, which have been or may be considered as: a) offense or attack on public institutions or their members; b) discredit to the electoral process or the powers of the Republic; c) reinforcement of political polarization; d) generation of animosity in Brazilian society; or e) situations of a similar nature to the previous ones.

Federal Deputy Colonel Chrisóstomo (PL-RO) states that this project would have more than 300 votes in favor and that the goal is to amnesty all involved, from those who participated in the acts to Jair Bolsonaro. He believes that Motta will put the project on the agenda.

A project considered more “light” has been built by the Senate President and would be more likely to approve. However, the Bolsonarist group does not accept this possibility.

Proposal is not on the voting agenda

Throughout the week, despite the strong pressure of the pockets, Mayor Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB) has resisted putting the amnesty PL-which has no consensus text yet-in vote and does not guarantee to put next week.

“We are very quiet about this agenda. We are always listening to the leaders who are interested and those who are opposed,” said Motta.

The progress of the trial in the first class of the STF of former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other members of the so-called “crucial nucleus” increases the boil in Congress.

“Impunity Project”

According to PSOL leader, Talíria Petrone (RJ), there is no climate in the House to approve the project. “I want to believe that the Brazilian National Congress will not commit this unconstitutionality. We are seeing the trial. They have spoken of a draft, of a green and yellow dagger plan, attempted to murder the President of the Republic, Minister of the Supreme, cannot animate those who pay against the democratic state,” said Talíria.

PDT leader, deputy Mario Heringer (PDT-MG) said he prefers to call the amnesty PL “impunity project”. “If we keep calling amnesty, it looks like it’s a good thing and it’s not. What they are proposing not to make the prisoner’s penalty dosimetry. What they want is to amnesty that bunch of people who fought a blow to get out of there as if nothing had happened,” said Heringer.
