Tarcisio says that speech with criticism of the Supreme Court and Moraes translates feeling from the population

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans-SP), said on Sunday (7) that the tone of his speech on Paulista Avenue during the act by the amnesty of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) reflects popular feeling. “People are tired, very tired. I only translated a little of people’s feeling,” he said as he answered the tone adopted on the stage.

In his speech, Tarcisio openly criticized the Supreme Court and said that “no one can handle the tyranny of a minister like Moraes” and will not accept the “dictatorship of one power over the other.” The statements mark a change in posture of the chief executive of São Paulo, who usually avoids criticizing the Supreme, which has already earned him various criticism of Bolsonarists in the past.

This time, however, at least at this first moment, the speech was well received by the former president’s allies. “The tough speech of Governor Tarcisio. Direct, straight and objective (…) Water divider, an important moment,” he wrote in X Fábio Wajngarten, former chief of the Presidency Secretariat of the Republic in the Bolsonaro government. Also according to Tarcisio, this Sunday’s demonstrations showed that there is “popular cry” by amnesty and that they give strength to the measure to be approved in Congress.

“There is a portion of the population that finds unfair what is happening. It was a manifestation of strength. Streets crowded not only here in São Paulo, but in other cities, where we succeeded. Great mobilization, many people in green and yellow. We believe it helps, gives strength to the joints. We will establish a consensus that we need a path to pacification and this path is the amnesty,” he added.
