Alckmin about 2026 elections: Lula is the natural candidate and has something to show

Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), said President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) is “the natural candidate” to run for Presidency in 2026 and “have something to show”.

He avoided giving indications about his political future. Alckmin is quoted to run for the São Paulo government, to the Federal Senate or to stay on Lula’s presidential plate in next year’s elections.

“We are a unique year. So, candidate for president only if he is from Santos Futebol Clube,” Alckmin said in an interview with host Datenana on Rede TV.

“President Lula, Datena, is the natural candidate. And has something to show. But that has its time, it is next year,” he said.
