“It seemed impossible for Trump and Trump to have a chemistry, but it happened,” says Lula

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was playing again, talking about the meeting he had with US President Donald Trump at the United Nations (UN) general meeting last week.

Speaking about the goal of ending hunger in the country, on Tuesday, 30, Lula joked by claiming that he has no “nothing impossible” because he even managed to have a “chemistry” with the American leader.

“What seemed impossible, you see that there is nothing impossible. It seemed impossible me and Trump we have chemistry and it happened chemistry. There is nothing impossible when we are willing to do things,” said the president.

This Tuesday, Lula sanctioned five new laws focused on family farming. One formalizes the Family Farming Plan and the National Program for Strengthening Family Farming (Pronaf) as state policies, which gives more legal certainty for small farmers’ subsidy programs to continue, regardless of any government.

Lula also sanctioned the law that inserts the HDI among the classification criteria of municipalities in the National Policy for Food and Nutrition Security (PNSAN). Another text signed by the President prioritizes the distribution of the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) to municipalities in emergency or public calamity.

The president also signed the regulation that defines the validity period of food supplied to the National School Feeding Program (PNAE) and establishing the National Policy to Combat Food Loss and Waste (PNCPDA) and creates the Food Donor Seal.

The sanction was held at an event in the East Hall of the Planalto Palace. The mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), the ministers of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, and Human Rights, Macaé Evaristo, and the Minister of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira, participated. Also present were petist congressmen and family farming leaders.
