Venezuela military prepare for exception
The military prepare for the possible declaration of a state of exception that would give President Nicolás Maduro special powers.
US President Donald Trump accuses Maduro of allegedly having ties to drug trafficking and since last September 2, his country’s military forces have destroyed at least five vessels of alleged Venezuelan traffickers, leaving a balance of 21 dead.
Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López said that in the last 45 days Venezuela has put into practice defense plans according to “the progressivity of the US threat” of the United States.
Padrino López stated that the exercises performed every Saturday are part of the permanent offensive.
The armed force is preparing for a possible state of external commotion that Maduro has in his hands if Venezuela is “militarily assaulted.”
“At this time, time of struggle, peace, we are preparing for a possible eventuality, a possible state of exception,” said, in turn, General Domingo Hernández Larez, head of the operational strategic command, logistical arm of the Venezuelan armed force.
