Amid tension with Trump, Putin’s envoy is in the US for a meeting

Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for investment and economic cooperation, confirmed on Friday that he was in the United States for a long-planned meeting, proof that dialogue between the US and Russia continues.

“This meeting of mine has been planned for a long time and the US side has not canceled it, despite a series of recent hostile measures. We will continue the dialogue,” Dmitriev told Reuters.

US President Donald Trump hit Russia’s two biggest oil companies with sanctions this week to pressure the Kremlin leader to end Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
