USA put the “goat” in the room and now wants to charge Brazil dearly

It was the USA that imposed 50% surcharges on Brazilian products, contrary to all international trade rules.

Now they are asking Brazil to grant access to its rare earth reserves, open its ethanol market, give preference in government purchases, or even give in to the demands of big tech.

Brazilian negotiators are looking for alternatives to ensure that both Lula and Trump can emerge victorious, but it is not easy.

Sources from Palácio do Planalto explained to the column that, in the case of rare earths, Brazil is still trying to scale the size of its reserves, and will not give up local processing and the right to bid.

In other words, Chinese companies will certainly be in the running, as China is much more advanced than the United States in processing these minerals, which today are considered “the new oil”.

Furthermore, products such as coffee or beef are in short supply in the North American market, causing inflation locally. Therefore, it is in the interest of Americans to remove these surcharges sooner or later.
