PF launches new phase of Overclean and targets former OT secretaries for bidding fraud

This Friday (31), the Federal Police launched the eighth phase of Operation Overclean, with the aim of dismantling a criminal organization suspected of rigging tenders, embezzling public resources and practicing corruption and money laundering.

Five search and seizure warrants were executed in Brasília (DF), São Paulo (SP), Palmas (TO) and Gurupi (TO). The orders were issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF). According to the corporation, the kidnapping of funds obtained illegally was also determined.

According to the TV Globoamong the targets are:

• the former extraordinary secretary of Partnerships and Investments of the state, Claudinei Aparecido Quaresemin;
• the former executive secretary of Education Éder Martins Fernandes;
• the former director of the Municipal Department of Education of Goiânia Itallo Moreira de Almeida;
• and the lawyer and general secretary of Podemos Luiz Cláudio Freire de Souza França.

There are no arrest warrants at this stage. The operation has support from the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) and the Federal Revenue Service.

According to the Federal Police, those being investigated may face charges of criminal organization, active and passive corruption, embezzlement, fraud in tenders and administrative contracts, in addition to money laundering. More details about the case are yet to be released.
