Anvisa bans supplements and energy drinks with ozone from Ozonteck
Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) banned the marketing, distribution, manufacture, advertising and use of all food and energy supplements from the company Ozonteck that use ozone in their composition. The decision was published on Wednesday.
“The measure also includes the seizure of products, to which ozone had been added, a type of gas that to date has not had a safety assessment for use as a constituent of food supplements and ready-to-consume liquid compounds, such as energy drinks”, says the agency, in a note.
According to Anvisa, in Brazil, the use of ozone is only authorized as a disinfection agent in water treatment.
