PF informs the STF of the possible inclusion of Mauro Cid and his family in a protection program
The Federal Police informed the Federal Supreme Court that it is studying the inclusion of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid and his family members in the Federal Assistance Program for Threatened Victims and Witnesses, according to an investigation by the CNN Brazil.
The referral was made to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the investigation into the attempted coup d’état.
Cid, former aide-de-camp to Jair Bolsonaro (PL), signed an award-winning collaboration agreement that served as the basis for the conviction of the former president and military personnel involved in the coup plot.

The PF maintains that the progress of the investigations and the content of the allegations may pose risks to the physical integrity of the soldier and his relatives.
Moraes has already sent the document to the Attorney General’s Office, which should issue an opinion on the need for expanded protection. The body’s manifestation is a necessary step before any formal measure.
During the plea negotiations, Cid’s defense had already requested an individual protection scheme provided by the PF itself if the situation required it. The request, however, did not fall within the rules of the federal protection program and had not been incorporated into the agreement.
