“He knew about the girls,” Epstein said. In another message, sent in January 2019 by Epstein to Trump’s biographer, writer and journalist Michael Wolff, the mogul writes that “of course he (Trump) knew about the girls, since he asked Ghislaine to stop.”
Trump and Epstein were friends in the 1980s and 1990s. They attended social events together in New York and Florida. Controversy surrounding his close ties to the convicted sex offender has dogged Trump since last July, when the Justice Department announced it would no longer release information about the New York financier, who allegedly committed suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial in prison.
The messages were shared yesterday by members of the House Oversight Committee. Around 23,000 additional documents related to the Epstein case, which caused great turmoil among the Republican president’s support base, were reviewed.
