Lula: 'I intend to talk to Trump about Venezuela; there's no point in war now'

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said this Sunday, the 23rd, that he will talk to North American President Donald Trump about the United States military apparatus positioned in the Caribbean Sea, with a view to a possible attack against Venezuela.

“I’m worried, because South America is considered a zone of peace. We are a continent that doesn’t have nuclear weapons, we don’t have an atomic bomb, we have nothing. Our business there is to work to develop and grow. I’m very worried about the military apparatus that the United States has placed in the Caribbean Sea. It worries me a lot, and I intend to talk to President Trump about it, because it’s worrying me”, declared Lula.

The Brazilian president spoke to journalists after participating in the 20 Summit meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“Brazil has responsibility in South America, Brazil shares a border with Venezuela and it’s no small feat. I think there’s no point in having a war now. Let’s not repeat the mistake that happened in the war between Russia and Ukraine. In other words, to start with just shoot one shot, to end it you don’t know how it ends. So it’s important that we try to find a solution before it starts. I want to say that I’m very worried and I would like nothing, nothing, nothing to happen militarily in South America,” said Lula.
